The Noida and Greater Noida authorities have announced a funding of ₹1,812 crore for the Jewar Airport. The airport, which is expected to be operational by 2023, will be the second international airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) after the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
The airport will be built on 5,000 acres of land in Jewar, which is about 60 km from Delhi. The first phase of the airport is expected to be completed by 2023 and will have the capacity to handle 12 million passengers per year. The airport is expected to be fully operational by 2025 with a capacity of handling 60 million passengers per year.
The funding for the airport will be used for the acquisition of land, construction of the terminal building, runway, and other infrastructure. The airport is expected to generate employment for about 50,000 people.
