The government has approved a budget of ₹2,682 crore for the extension of the Delhi Metro to Noida. The project is expected to be completed by December 2021.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had submitted a proposal to the Centre for the extension of the Metro from the existing Botanical Garden station to the Noida sector 62 station. The project will be implemented by the DMRC on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government.
The extension will cover a distance of 10.3 km and will have seven stations. It will benefit the commuters of Noida and Greater Noida as it will reduce the travel time between the two cities.
The project is expected to generate employment for about 5,000 people during the construction phase. Once completed, it will also lead to the development of the Noida-Greater Noida region.
