PM kick-starts multiple infrastructure projects in Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday kick-started multiple infrastructure projects in Maharashtra through video conferencing. The projects include the expansion of the Mumbai Metro, the construction of a new terminal at Mumbai airport, and the development of a new rail line between Mumbai and Kalyan.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said that these projects will boost the state’s economy and create new employment opportunities. He also congratulated the Maharashtra government for its efforts to fast-track the development of these projects.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Maharashtra comes days after he launched a series of infrastructure projects in Gujarat.

He introduced the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (Cidco) mass housing initiative, valued at $18,000 crore, in Kalyan. This programme, known as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, provides around 89,771 inexpensive housing units.
