NHAI expedites ,733 billion in NH projects in Odisha

The foundation construction for the coastal highway and capital region ring road (CRRR) in Odisha has been started by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Originally intended to connect Gopalpur in Ganjam, Odisha, to Digha in West Bengal, the Rs 9,733 crore national highway project will now begin from NH-16 near Tangi in Khurda district and be built out in two segments, Tangi Ratanpur and Ratanpur-Digha, with a combined investment of over Rs 7,000 crore. The 177-km Tangi-Ratanpur route will connect over 100 villages in the districts of Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara. It will travel via Puri, Konark, Astarang, Naugaon, and Paradip port before ending at Ratanpur. The NHAI has released a tender for the six-lane CRRR.

In addition, the agency has begun the tendering process for two large-scale road projects that will cost Rs 2,733 crore. NHAI has released two packages of bids for this coastal highway project, which will be expanded into a 4-lane road. The 45-km Puri-Kakatpur package would be built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,297 crore, while the 47-km Rameswaram to Puri package will be built at an investment of Rs 1,436 crore.
