The extension of the Pune Metro project would cost 4,511 crores in total, and the European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to fund 60% of that sum. The federal government will provide 10% of the project’s funding, the state will contribute 15%, and the remaining 60% will come from municipal groups in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. The Maha Metro is equally owned by the federal government and the states.
The 5.464-km Swargate-Katraj line would cost 3,600 crore, and the PCMC-Nigdi expansion line will cost 911 crore. The entire project report for the 9.77-km extension of Phase 1 of the Pune Metro has been approved by the Maharashtra state government, but the Center must yet provide final approval.
