Delhi govt approves ₹607 cr for underpass and flyovers

The national capital’s government has given the go-ahead for two flyovers and an underpass with a total investment of 607 crore. In the first instance, an investment of 341.2 crore has been approved for a new underpass at Loni Chowk and a flyover between Nand Nagri and Gagan Cinema.

The government intends to spend 266 crores building a double-decker flyover on GT Road between Azadpur and Rani Jhansi Road intersection to enable seamless traffic between central and north Delhi. This project, which is being completed by the local PWD and DMRC together, will lower construction costs by 150 crore.

The six-lane flyover from Nand Nagri to the Gagan Cinema intersection will be 1.3 km long, while the four-lane Loni Chowk underpass would probably be roughly 500 m long. By building the underpass and flyover, a 10-km section of Mangal Pandey Marg will become signal-free and less congested. Signal-free roads would be available for commuters using the Signature Bridge to reach Bhopura.
