Macrotech Developers has set a goal of investing 3,950 crore in various sustainable residential and commercial projects as part of its effort to become a net-zero carbon company by 2035. With technical assistance from RMI, the Lodha brand recently announced the beginning of the “Lodha Net Zero Urban Accelerator” programme in Palava City, its 4,500-acre flagship integrated township project on the outskirts of Navi Mumbai.
Abhishek Lodha, MD and CEO, announced that the Palava township will serve as a “living laboratory” for fast testing out contemporary sustainability concepts and solutions. Beginning this year, all parties involved, including real estate developers, research organisations, educational institutions, and policymakers, will be informed of the best concepts and solutions. Palava townships are already home to 1.5 lakh people, and eventually 20 lakh people will dwell there. The accelerator’s main argument is that the housing and real estate sectors must take the lead in India’s effort to become a net-zero carbon nation in order for that effort to be successful.
