The Indian National Highways Authority has begun construction on the 178-kilometer Surat-Chennai Economic Corridor. The 1,500 crore national highway project is part of the Union Government’s flagship Bharat Mala, according to NHAI Project Director Ajay Malik. A length between Badadal village in Kalaburagi district and Singanodi village in Raichur district would be completed in three phases, while a 71-kilometer stretch in Kalaburagi district will cost Rs. 1,500 crore.
PNC Infratech Limited, situated in Uttar Pradesh, was awarded the contract. Local agencies are attempting to resolve issues of land encroachment on National Highway service roads.
