According to the Forest Survey of India 2021, Hyderabad topped the mega cities with 48.66 sq km of green cover in a decade, as the state’s government implemented progressive urban policies and initiatives, transforming the city’s urban landscape. Since its formation, the total number of ULBs has increased from 69 to 142. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been able to secure loans worth $5,983 crore to fund capital-intensive projects, with around 2,000 crore obtained without the state government’s guarantee after banks performed due diligence after reviewing the GHMC’s balance sheet.
