With the ministry of defence (MoD) giving in-principle approval to Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited for the construction of five pillars near Khadki, the decks have been cleared for the extension of Maha-Metro line 1 up to Bopodi-Khadki-Range hills-Agriculture College. According to Maha-Metro officials, work will begin after the lease on the property is cancelled at the local level, and line 1 between PCMC and Phugewadi will be extended to the next destination. According to Director, Maha-Metro, Atul Gadgil, the regional defence authorities will hand over the land after receiving working permission, and work will begin shortly after the lease on the property is cancelled at the local level, which will be done very soon.
It has completed the installation of a girder to cross the railway track’s length viaduct position towards Range Hills and has accelerated the Bopodi-Khadki stretch project. In the coming weeks, the majority of the pillars on the old Pune-Mumbai highway between Bopodi and Khadki will be completed. The Ministry of Defence is responsible for a 1.75-kilometer elevated Metro corridor between Range Hills and Dapodi, which is part of the 17.4-kilometer Pimpri-Swargate route.
The one at Vanaz was made operational first, along with the introduction of services on the Vanaz route, and Metro’s range hills depot at Agriculture College is expected to be ready by the end of the month. After Vanaz, which opened last month, the Range Hills will be Metro’s second depot.
