“The government is putting a lot of money into infrastructure, which is helping India’s overall development and GDP. According to Shri. Basavaraj Bommai, Chief Minister of Karnataka, “the new policies announced by the Government of India will ensure the timely creation of world-class infrastructure in the country, making it India’s new identity globally.”
Basavaraj said the construction sector will play a key role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a USD 5 trillion economy in his inaugural address at the 11th edition of CII EXCON, South Asia’s largest construction equipment trade fair, held by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today. The government is investing Rs. 100 lakh crores in major infrastructure and industrial projects to achieve this goal. “While our primary focus should be on exponentially growing the country through technological advancements, the inclusion of people at the bottom of the pyramid is also critical because they are the economic drivers.” We encourage industry to work with them to help the CE sector grow,” he said.
The state is embarking on major infrastructure development projects in roads and flyovers, industrial infrastructure, and power, according to the Minister. This presents huge business opportunities for the construction industry.
“India is an emerging hub for construction equipment, component outsourcing base, and design base,” General V K Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, said as the Guest of Honour. To reduce construction costs and pollution, private players in the construction industry must focus on automation, adoption of advanced technologies and global best practises, use of alternative fuels, and innovations in using waste materials as raw materials for their projects.”
“Infrastructure must be long-lasting, and the industry should take steps to improve quality at a low life-cycle cost.” India is putting in a lot of effort into hydrogen fuel technology and solar energy because we see it as the country’s future. V K Singh continued, “The CE industry must prepare for the competitive market situation and focus on Industry 4.0 to revamp itself.”
“This is the eleventh edition of the EXCON, and our theme this year is Building India for a New World: Competitiveness, Growth, Sustainability, Technology,” said Mr. Deepak Shetty, Chairman of the CII EXCON. To build large-scale infrastructure projects, such as roads and ports, India must become less reliant on imports. As a result, developing and embracing technologies is critical if we are to expand our innovations and become a global export hub. Focusing on new growth drivers, understanding the importance of the rural economy, and curating a roadmap for alternative fuels are the three key strategies that will help us accelerate development.”
In order to realise the vision of making India the global hub for construction equipment manufacturing, smart technologies and innovation are critical in India’s infrastructure development. As a result, rapid infrastructure investments are required for the country’s long-term development.
Mr. Dimitrov Krishnan, Co-chairman of EXCON, proposed the vote of thanks, saying, “The Indian CE industry, as the world’s third largest market, has shown remarkable progress over the years.” We want to be the world’s second-largest CE market. At the exhibition, EXCON will reflect on the theme elements and set the tone for Atmanirbhar Bharat’s infrastructure development.”
EXCON dignitaries presented the “Women Building India Awards” during the opening session to recognise women’s participation in the infrastructure industry. Cummins India Ltd., Volvo CE India Pvt. Ltd., Schwing Stetter India Pvt. Ltd., and L&T Constructions & Mining Machinery were honoured for their contributions in this area.
The National Highways Authority of India and the Builders Association of India are supporting partners for EXCON. The event featured over 800 exhibitors from India and abroad, including Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
