The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Union has approved four road projects worth Rs 4,518.04 crore under the Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme. The planned highway will be built in Assam, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Of these four, the largest in Andhra Pradesh is recommended. The construction of the four-lane NH-71 from Madanapalle to Pileru in the Chittoor district of Lower Andhra Pradesh, Bharatmala Pariyojna, has been approved at a cost of Rs 1,852.12 crore.
The Union Ministry also announced the construction of a six-lane access-controlled expressway section on the new NH-150C between Karnataka and Telangana at an estimated cost of Rs 972.06 crore. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced the tender for the project in October 2021.
In addition, the government has approved two state road projects worth Rs 1,694 crore in Assam, including the four-lane construction and upgrade of the NH-127B at an estimated cost of Rs 1,522.91 crore.
