Foundation Laid for Four Electronics Manufacturing Units in Telangana

Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated four manufacturing units at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Divitipally, Mahabubnagar, Telangana. The projects include Amara Raja’s Giga Factory-1, Lohum’s critical minerals refining and battery recycling facility, Scell Energy’s cell casing manufacturing unit, and Altmin’s first LFP-CAM Giga Factory.

The foundation stone for four new electronics manufacturing units was laid in Telangana, marking a significant step in the state’s efforts to become a leading hub for electronic production. The new units, which are being developed with a combined investment of over ₹2,000 crore, are expected to generate thousands of jobs and boost industrial growth in the region.

Key Highlights of the Project

The manufacturing units are being set up in Telangana’s Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) located in Maheshwaram, near Hyderabad. These facilities will focus on producing a wide range of electronic components, including semiconductor devices, consumer electronics, and telecommunications equipment.

Key aspects of the new units include:

  • Investment: Over ₹2,000 crore committed by major industry players.
  • Employment Opportunities: Expected to create more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.
  • Focus Areas: Semiconductor manufacturing, electronic components, and consumer electronics.
  • Sustainability Measures: Implementation of eco-friendly manufacturing practices and energy-efficient technologies.

Telangana’s Push for Electronics Manufacturing

Telangana has been actively promoting itself as an electronics manufacturing hub, leveraging its strong infrastructure, investor-friendly policies, and proximity to Hyderabad’s IT ecosystem. The state government has been working closely with major domestic and global companies to establish high-tech industries in the region.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Telangana’s Minister for IT and Industries highlighted the state’s commitment to fostering innovation, attracting investments, and strengthening India’s position in the global electronics supply chain.

He emphasized that these new manufacturing units align with the central government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, aimed at reducing dependence on imports and enhancing domestic production capabilities.

Economic and Industrial Impact

The establishment of these units is expected to:

  • Strengthen the local supply chain for electronic goods.
  • Reduce reliance on imported components, boosting self-sufficiency.
  • Enhance Telangana’s attractiveness as a preferred destination for tech investments.
  • Contribute significantly to India’s electronics export sector.

With rapid advancements in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, Telangana is positioning itself as a key player in India’s vision for a technologically self-reliant economy. The new units will not only drive economic growth but also play a crucial role in shaping the future of electronics production in the country.
