The new tall boy has a pin height that is 13% higher than the 340F UHD, allowing it to demolish buildings up to eight floors. Another advantage: the 340 UHD has a coupling system that allows you to switch between two UHD front ends and a shorter modified arm and stick in just 15 minutes, without the need for special tools.
“This is a specially built dedicated demolition machine,” said James Cole, a product application expert. “We are not just investing a long front line on a standard excavator. It has a reinforced frame, heavier counterweight and the best working weight in the industry of its size.”
Cat also took the time to design a new demolition excavator to make it easier to transport. The hydraulically driven variable gauge chassis extends from 9 feet 10 inches in transport mode to 13 feet 4 inches to ensure the stability of the working configuration. The optional integrated boom bracket can be used to reduce the transport height of the UHD boom to less than 9 feet 10 inches. The new 340 UHD allows the stick to be configured as a Cat coupler to optimize the versatility and productivity of the machine. Two front-end options are available:
The 72-foot 2-inch front provides a maximum load capacity of 8,160 pounds (3.7 tons) at the stick pin, and the maximum horizontal range of the stick front at the front and sides of the machine is 44 feet 5 inches.
With a maximum weight of 7,280 pounds of rod pins, the 82-foot front section provides a maximum reach of 43 feet 9 inches at the front and side nose of the machine. It is compatible with Cat MP332 and MP324 multi-processors.
