A 100-meter-long steel bridge was inaugurated on August 25, 2024, as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project in Dadra & Nagar Haveli, close to Silvassa. Measuring 14.6 meters in height and 14.3 meters in breadth, the 1,464 MT steel structure was manufactured in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, and then brought to the installation location.
In order to launch the bridge without the need for intermediary supports, an 84-meter temporary launching snout weighing 600 MT was used. A total of 55,250 Tor-Shear Type High Strength (TTHS) bolts with C5 system coating and elastomeric bearings were used for the main bridge, while 27,500 High-Strength Friction Grip (HSFG) bolts were used for the launching nose. This is the fourth of 28 steel bridges that are intended to be built for the Bullet Train line, demonstrating the quality of Indian engineering and the country’s dedication to the “Make in India” campaign.
