The East Coast Railway (ECoR) is working to improve the sustainability, safety, and efficiency of rail transportation by implementing cutting-edge ballastless track technology in its new railway tunnel building projects. As part of the Koraput-Singapur Road Doubling Project, the Rheda 2000 Block System was first used in a 600-meter tunnel between Baiguda and Kakirigumma stations.
All tunnels that are now under construction will be equipped with this technology as part of ongoing projects, and ECoR intends to gradually replace the current tracks in tunnels with ballastless tracks in a phased manner.
